The Founder - Heinrich AUMUND
1922 marks the commencement of the Group's history with the foundation of an engineering office by Professor Heinrich AUMUND.
The company founder owned about 200 patents for inovative conveying and lifting equipment. As an acknowledged expert for all aspects of mechanical handling and conveying technique he held a chair at the Polytechnical College in Berlin.

To be close to the customers in the Mining and Steel Industry, he eventually moves to the Ruhr area and settles in Homberg, near Duisburg.

The Second Generation
1951 his son, Günter-Claus AUMUND, takes over the engineering office.
On account of the expanding business, he soon decides to add equipment manufacture to the engineering services which, at that time were still the core business of the company. He finds the adequate premises for the company-owned workshops just 30 minutes drive from Duisburg in Rheinberg, where the company's main office is located until today.
Manufacture in the first workshop starts in 1956. As a result of the increasing success of AUMUND conveying equipment, regular extensions of the workshops and construction of office blocks follow over the years.
First workshop in Rheinberg 1956 With the downturn in the mining and steel industry in the late Fifties and early Sixties, market diversification becomes a major issue. Thanks to the company's expertise in the design and manufacture of conveying equipment for hot and abrasive materials, achieved in the mining and steel industry, the cement industry started to be a target market with new opportunities and the first references in the cement industry was recorded as early as 1962.

The Third Generation
In 1966 Franz-Walter AUMUND joins the family business.
Taking into account the growing importance of the export market, he starts to built up a worldwide network with sales and engineering offices and workshops for domestic manufacture and created the platform allowing to adapt to the fast changing markets. Research and development of new technologies and cooperation with the customer, plant operators and project engineers resulted in the continuous development of the product range.
In 1982 Franz-Walter AUMUND takes over the management in the third generation. With his strategy targeting product and service quality, new industries and a worldwide presence, AUMUND soon became a global supplier of conveying equipment.
In the early Nineties, the AUMUND product range is enhanced by the equipment of Louise Maschinenfabrik, acquired in 1991. Further equipment is added by the takeover of SCHADE in 2001 and B&W Mechanical Handling in 2002.
The AUMUND Group is a truly international business based at the group headquarters in Germany but with international sales and service networks worldwide including daughter companies in the USA, Brazil, India and the United Kingdom plus representative offices located in Poland and China all serving the bulk materials handling industry.
